Rukhsana Tabassum's Dammy (Daddy-as-Mommy) follows the story of Suman Basodia, a young tribal man living in rural Madhya Pradesh. After the tragic loss of his wife, Suman is left alone to raise his newborn child, Thippu. The absence of the mother weighs heavy on Suman, who takes on increasingly absurd measures, and is even cheated by the medical system, in his attempt to fill the role of mother for the infant. This story is a microcosm of a world filled with corrupt systems which vulnerable people like Suman encounter everyday.
