Dans le cadre du mois de l’Histoire des noirs, nous proposons une conférence portant sur l’histoire des communautés noires à Montréal, plus particulièrement dans le quartier de Saint-Henri.
Présentée par l’historienne Dorothy Williams, Ph. D., cette conférence sera l’occasion de découvrir l’histoire, les lieux phares et les acteurs importants de la communauté noire de Saint-Henri à travers le temps. Ce pan de l’histoire montréalaise sera mis en lumière.

Dorothy Williams, Ph. D. est historienne, autrice, professeure et chercheuse spécialisée sur l’histoire de l’esclavage. Ses recherches se portent en particulier au Québec et sur la présence afro-descendante au Canada du 17e siècle jusqu’à la première moitié du 20e siècle.

As part of Black History Month, we are presenting a talk on the history of Montréal’s Black communities, more specifically those in the St. Henri neighbourhood.
Presented by historian Dorothy Williams, Ph.D., this lecture will offer an opportunity to learn more about the history of St. Henri’s Black community, as well as the community’s key sites and important individuals down through the years, shining a spotlight on this aspect of Montréal history.

Dorothy Williams, Ph.D. is a historian, author, professor, and researcher specializing in the history of slavery. Her research is more specifically focused on Québec and the Afro-descendant presence in Canada from the 17th century to the first half of the 20th century.
