An Evening of Stories and Harp Music With Julie Miller
Where History and Myth Collide
In this new series of stories, Julie Miller brings alive figures from the historical and mythical past, to explore what it means to be creative and what it means to persevere. Melodies and meditations on the harp are woven throughout. The audience will meet mythical Mother Raven, who is older than the sun, and a Scottish wilderness sprite who got caught in the luggage of emigrants to the Townships. They’ll also meet a woman who became a man to fight in World War I, and a 1700s Abenaki scholar who read Greek and Latin as he paddled and explored the rivers of the West, retiring to teach at a local settlement called Wheatland which has since faded into the mist.
Julie Miller lives in the Eastern Townships with her family on an organic farm. She has taught music and theatre and currently works for a community organization in Drummondville.
