Uwe Neumann et Indranil Mallick
Uwe Neumann is a performer, composer, teacher, and lover of Indian classical music and culture. Coming from a background of classical guitar and rock at a young age, he fell in love with the sitar in India in 1987, which changed his life and musical direction.
Undergoing ten years of full-time training in India in the 90s with sitar maestro Pandit Indranil Bhattacharya, Uwe received a Master’s degree from Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan with a scholarship from ICCR and a Merit scholarship from the Indian Government. He also received training in tabla and vocal music and delved into the folk music with the Bauls of Bengal. As learning in this domain is continuous, Uwe has been receiving advanced training from Sri Partha Bose since 2009.
Uwe has performed in many festivals and concert halls in Canada, India and Europe with his diverse musical projects.
Indranil Mallick combines talent, virtuosity and youthful dynamism in perfect proportion, making him a leading tabla player of his generation. Since the age of five, Indranil has received intensive training under eminent masters, including his uncle, Montu Mallick, as well as Professor Dhabol Bandyopadhyay, Shri Uttam Chakraborty, and currently, living legend Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. This training has shaped Indranil’s rich repertoire and contributed to his reputation in the national and international arena.
