The show Le Griot et la Griotte is a unique immersion into the Malian Manding heritage, a musical journey that combines virtuosity and reinterpreted traditions. The duo brings together Diely Mori Tounkara, trained by his brother, the famous guitarist Djelimady Tounkara, and Toumany Kouyaté, master of the kora, along with Djely Tapa Diarra, descendant of a renowned family of griots and winner of several awards including three Juno. Together, they blend the magic of the kora and a powerful voice to bring to life a world where ancestral rhythms, Malian blues, and contemporary sounds resonate. Their music, rich in metaphors and wisdom, pays tribute to women and African identity, passing down stories through words and melodies from generation to generation. For 18 years, Le Griot et la Griotte have shared this cultural heritage in Canada through intimate and authentic performances that immerse audiences in the heart of West Africa.
