In the troubled context that Iran’s civil society is going through, the Centre des musiciens du monde wishes to present the splendor of traditional Persian music to Montreal audiences.

Join us to discover this immense musical universe during the exceptional Nuit Persane concert, offered by one of the greatest masters of this tradition, Kayhan Kalhor, invited by Kiya Tabassian, setar virtuoso. Culture bearers and pioneers of the future, these two emblematic musicians will create a dialogue with the poetry of times both ancient and contemporary to highlight a millennial heritage fascinating by its ability to constantly regenerate.

Kayhan Kalhor

Kayhan Kalhor is a composer of Kurdish and Persian classical music and well known as a member of the Persian/Kurdish folk and classical ensemble Ghazal and Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble. He is also virtuoso on the kamancheh, setar, and Persian violin. He is globally renowned for his original works, his interpretations of traditional music, and his collaborations with other classical and modern musicians.

Kiya Tabassian

Setar virtuoso and acclaimed composer, Kiya Tabassian has carved out a privileged place on the international music scene with his ensemble Constantinople and also as a soloist. Past master in cross-cultural musical encounters, he travels across the five continents for presenting his creations and his music on stages from all over the world.
