ON THE BRIDGE
DIRECTOR: FRED GUILLAUME, SAM GUILLAUME
SWITZERLAND/FRANCE, 2022, AUTHOR'S DOCUMENTARY/ANIMATION, 47 MIN, O.V FRENCH, S.-T. ENGLISH
Men and women board a mysterious train that takes them to a suspension bridge between heaven and earth. Some of them try to understand why they are here, others talk about their hopes and fears; earthly memories sometimes surface. Each person experiences in his or her own way this threshold state on the edge of a dream, as if in a rite of passage. Everyone is on their way to a mysterious goal – the presumed end of the bridge – but does it really exist?
LES ANNÉES SUPER 8
DIRECTOR: ANNIE ERNAUX, DAVID ERNAUX-BRIOT
FRANCE, 2022, AUTEUR CINEMA, 61 MIN, O.V FRENCH, S.-T. ENGLISH
“In re-viewing our Super 8 films, shot between 1972 and 1981, it occurred to me that they comprised not only a family archive but a testimony to the pastimes, lifestyle and aspirations of a social class in the decade after 1968. I wanted to incorporate these silent images into a story which combined the intimate with the social and with history, to convey the taste and colour of those years.” Annie Ernaux
