During this concert Emmanuelle Martin and the talented musicians who accompany her will make you discover the varied range of ragas from South India. EMMANUELLE MARTIN

EMMANUELLE MARTIN is today an international benchmark in the field of traditional and sacred music from South India, where she lived for 10 years and was trained by T. M. Krishna; in 2016 she joined Ariane Mnouchkine and the troupe of the Théâtre du Soleil; since then she has traveled the world to give concerts and trainings. www.emmanuellemartinmusic.com/musique

ANJANA SRINIVASAN

 

Drawing from her training in Carnatic and Western Classical Violin as well as Carnatic Vocal music, Anjana explores the world of music as a way to touch the soul through melody and emotion. She received her initial training in Carnatic Violin under the late Sri Anoor Ramakrishna of Bangalore. She continued her training under Sri Vittal Ramamurthy, and later Smt Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi and Sri GJR Krishnan of Chennai, India, daugher and son of the legendary late violinist Sri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. She continues to receive guidance from Smt Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi. Anjana is very active in the Indo-Canadian musical scene. She performs regularly as a soloist, as part of instrumental groups, and as an accompanist for vocal and dance performances. Her musical journey has included collaborations with artists of varied international backgrounds, which has led to numerous performances at Canadian festivals including the well-known Montreal International Jazz Festival.  She has lent a Carnatic violin touch to many recordings by Canadian and Indo-Canadian artists of different musical styles. Anjana enjoys imparting her art by conducting violin lessons for local youth and adults. She plays an active part in organizing educational musical opportunities for students of music in Montreal. In addition to music, Anjana practices as a family physician in Montreal.

Avec sa formation en violon carnatique et occidental classique ainsi qu'en musique vocale carnatique, Anjana explore le monde de la musique comme dans son but de toucher nos âmes à travers la mélodie et l'émotion. Elle a reçu sa formation initiale en violon carnatique auprès de feu Sri Anoor Ramakrishna de Bangalore. Elle a poursuivi sa formation auprès de Sri Vittal Ramamurthy, puis de Smt Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi et de Sri GJR Krishnan de Chennai, en Inde, fils et fille du légendaire regretté violoniste Sri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. Elle continue de recevoir des conseils de Smt Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi. Anjana est très active sur la scène musicale indo-canadienne. Elle se produit régulièrement en tant que soliste, au sein de groupes instrumentaux et en tant qu'accompagnatrice de performances vocales et de danse. Son parcours musical comprend des collaborations avec des artistes d'horizons internationaux variés, ce qui l’a amené à participer dans plusieurs festivals canadiens, dont le célèbre Festival international de jazz de Montréal. Elle a prêté une touche de violon carnatique à de nombreux enregistrements par les artistes canadiens et indo-canadiens de différents styles musicaux. Anjana aime transmettre son art en donnant des cours de violon aux jeunes et aux adultes à Montréal. Elle participe activement à l'organisation musicale éducative pour les étudiants de Montréal. En plus de la musique, Anjana pratique comme médecin de famille à Montréal.

Internationally renowned artist trained under his guru T.H. Subash Chandran, he is one of India's most sought-after emerging percussionists (mridangam).
