La Découverte is a quartet of saxophones that invites its listeners to an unprecedented temporal and sensory journey. You will hear four exceptional musicians from the Centre-du-Québec, including two emerging talents, students at the Cégep de Drummondville. Thanks to their work and virtuosity, this ensemble will make you discover the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones in their most beautiful facets. It will transport you through the history of the saxophone quartet, which begins in the 19th century with the exploration of the sound richness of the instrument through classical music, before embracing the “groove” of ragtime from 1911 and modern jazz from the 21st century.
