Stravinsky's 1918 masterpiece The Soldier's Tale, tells the story of a soldier who trades his violin to the devil for a magic book, weaving together music, dance, and narrative in Stravinsky's distinctive neo-classical style. Following a week-long exploration of this work through puppet theatre by Music Retreat participants (August 3-9, 2025), the Musical Sundays Concert Series will present The Soldier's Tale in its pure concert form, featuring a trio of award-winning musicians – Marc Djokic on violin, Simon Aldrich on clarinet, and Maxim Shatalkin on piano – with narration by award-winning playwright and director Peter Duschenes.
