About the album
Vagues et ombres, a musical universe of colour, texture, and nuance with the music of Claude Debussy and Luna Pearl Woolf. Original arrangements by Thibault Bertin-Maghit (including a complete performance of Debussy’s iconic work La Mer) and the premiere recording of Contact, a new work by Luna Pearl Woolf, give new dimension and context to this impressionist world.
“The fourth Étude sounds so natural for string nonet that for a moment one believes this was how it was conceived; … La mer concludes the programme and works extraordinarily well [...] recreating Debussy’s magical score afresh.” - Gramophone
“[Contact is] ‘a sonic view into the underwater world of beluga whales in the St. Lawrence Estuary’ where the strings swarm, the energies meet and create a bewitching harmony. A captivating disc. Both modern and timeless.” - Le Soir
