Metallic acoustics of the bottleneck slide over Dobro strings, coupled with the tuba-like sousaphone and rhythmic drumming, animate Antillean beguine, quadrille and mazurka dance rhythms with blues and rock. Nominated in 2019 for a Victoires de la Musique award—the French equivalent of a Grammy—for best world music album, they sing in French or Creole to music that is at times fiery and raw or sunny and uplifting in a way that simply can’t be ignored.
