Virginie B
Creatively unbounded by language, with a sharp introspection of themes surrounding perceptions, love, and womanhood, Montreal-based Virginie B sprinkles her thoughtfully crafted sounds & captivating voice upon a unique brand of hyper pop & neo-soul.
Milk & Bone
Behind the entrancing vocal harmonies and heartbreaking lyrics of the electro-pop duo Milk & Bone hides the vibrant inner world of musicians Laurence Lafond-Beaulne and Camille Poliquin (KROY). With their critically acclaimed releases Little Mourning (2015), Deception Bay (2018) and DIVE (2019), the duo has accumulated over 75 millions streams and toured across Canada, Europe and the United States. Beyond their record releases as Milk & Bone, the pair has crafted music for two Cirque du Soleil shows and several feature films, including Podz’ King Dave which earned them a nomination at the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards. Over the years, Milk & Bone has won a Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year (2019), been longlisted twice for the Polaris Prize (2015 and 2018) and been nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2016 Junos. After a much-needed, pandemic-induced break, the duo released Chrysalism, their third album, in the fall of 2022.
Dee Holt
After forming a creative bond with local producer Benjamin Nadeau, dee released her first two singles, “Hardest Part” and “Olivia,” which landed her on Spotify’s LOREM playlist, among countless others, and the momentum didn’t stop. In 2022, after signing with Nettwerk Music Group, she released her debut EP, When I Close My Eyes, garnering millions of streams, numerous playlist covers, rave reviews, and even a Spotify billboard in downtown Toronto. TeenVogue called her “one to watch,” and SHEESH Media compared her vocals to the great Billie Eilish. dee capped off the year with a momentous debut performance at M for Montreal, winning the praise of Canadian press like La Presse, La Journal de Montréal.
Cartel Madras
Cartel Madras are a Canadian Experimental hip-hop duo comprised of sisters Eboshi and Contra. Born in Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and raised in Calgary, Canada their music is a cultural syncretism; a heady mix of trap, punk ,and house.
Known for their live performance style; explosive and aggressive, Cartel Madras delivers their music by combining elements of the underground trap, queer, and punk scene - a new sound that has been anointed ‘goonda rap’. It is through word of mouth that followed their first year of performing in 2018 that their rise has been so quick. Their music is radical, racy, and truly unique in the contemporary international hip hop landscape. Signed to the legendary Sub Pop
records in 2019, they released their hit single Goonda Gold in the same year which has found its way to MTV, Vogue, NME & UFC 4.
Fresh off their North American tour with Sudan Archives in 2020, Cartel’s international tour dates were cut short due to COVID19, since then they have released their third EP The Serpent and the Tiger featuring singles WORKING & DRIFT. In 2022 Cartel Madras has seen success at
SXSW performing alongside label-mates CHAI, and will be touring the UK in May and Europe later on in the year. Beyond creating music, both Eboshi & Contra produce and direct most of their own music videos under the larger production entity FOREIGNERZ.
