Kamikaze Nurse
Kamikaze Nurse is a rock band formed in Vancouver, BC, Canada in 2018 with KC Wei, Ethan Reyes, Sonya Eui, and John Brennan. Named after activist-philosopher Simone Weil’s unfulfilled humanitarian death wish, the band released their debut LP, Bucky Fleur, on Agony Klub in June 2019. Their music has been described as “ethereal skronk,” “Deleuzian rock,” and “best of the ‘90s” by people on the internet and IRL. Their sophomore album, Stimuloso, will be released by Mint Records June 2022.

Formed in 2017, the Calgarian quartet creates contrasting sounds corollary to their name, combining dazzling indie rock and marmorated post-punk. Possibly a fan of modular grids and quadrants, the band perceives their music as polarized on axes, now aiming more for verticality than horizontality to shape urgent, dense and cohesive songs. Co-produced by local hero Chad VanGaalen, mixed by acclaimed engineer Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, Yves Jarvis, The Unicorns) the band released their second album, Subterranea on Mothland this spring, combining drama, motorik tenacity and nebulous grooves.
