Jacques Kuba Seguin // MICROCOSME Project

After writing a symphony for symphonic orchestra, as well as sextet pieces for MiGRATIONS, a project for which he was awarded a Félix and a Juno, Jacques Kuba Séguin is now entering a new phase of creation. Accompanied by sax player Alex Francoeur, the swift bassist Rémi-Jean Leblanc and the audacious drummer Kevin Warren, the trumpet player has composed a series of short pieces, like little musical news from everyday life.

This project echoes the strange year 2020. Séguin explores the spaces we inhabit, those we hide as well as those we have rediscovered. Music is a source of hope and a place of escape for the soul. This series of compositions is sure to captivate the audience... and, yes, there were some great stories in 2020 too!

Jacques Kuba Séguin

JACQUES KUBA SÉGUIN : Versatile and adventurous, the trumpet player, composer, radio show host / programmer and teacher at the Vincent D'Indy music school, Jacques Kuba Séguin asserts himself within a variable geometry formation: with his sextet ODD LOT (created in 2003) and his quartet Litania Projekt (created in 2011) and Migrations (created in 2019). Séguin's repertoire is composed of melodic, explosive and accessible tunes and as a performer he has a definite sense of showmanship. With Migrations Jacques is a winner of the PRIX JUNOS 2020 and the FÉLIX 2020 award in the category "Best Jazz Album of the Year" and nominated for the Prix Opus in the same category in the spring of 2020. This trumpet player and composer with Polish roots has been Révélation Radio-Canada 2012-2013, while asserting himself more and more on the national scene. In 2015 & 2016, he is nominated at the ADISQ in two categories: arranger and jazz album of the year for L'élévation du point de chute (2015), Litania Projekt with the Quatuor Bozzini (2016). He received a nomination for the Prix Opus 2016, jazz album of the year with this same album. www.jacqueskubaseguin.com/
