2 Stone 2 Skank
DOWNTOWN FIASCO
Downtown Fiasco is a bilingual punk-rock band from Montréal that fuses horns, hooks, and heaviness into a sound that’s as danceable as it is cathartic. Though their roots go way back to 2009, today’s Downtown Fiasco is a fresh incarnation; with a new lineup and new things to shout about.
Downtown Fiasco began as a band of young outcasts, weirdos, and misfits in Ste-Thérèse, Quebec. By 2016, they’d done more than they ever imagined — releasing a full-length album - Insatisfaction Garantie - and playing festivals across Quebec, including M4C, Skafest and Pouzza. But by 2019, burnout had set in, members had drifted across the province, and the future felt uncertain. They planned one last goodbye — to themselves and their fans — but the pandemic had other ideas. As the world shut down, old members moved on, and new ones stepped in with fresh ideas and new energy. What started as a farewell became a rebirth. Downtown Fiasco was never supposed to come back — but it did, louder and more alive than ever.
Arriving on August 23rd 2025 on streaming and limited-edition vinyl, their upcoming album, Look at the Sun, is a departure from Insatisfaction Garantie’s naiveté. Heavier and grittier, this collection of tracks written over the span of 10 years shows the devolution of society as it has become more fractured. Discourse has broken down, and the technological takeover has left us feeling alienated and misunderstood. It’s about being stuck between caring too much and feeling too tired to care at all. It’s an observation of the world’s growing discomforts, without the pretension of trying to fix everything. We see what’s going on, and we won’t stay silent as the fabric of the world we know unravels, though we might take a break to dance and have a little fun.
Just when you think you’ve figured everything out, life hits you harder than before, forcing you once again to pick yourself up. The album’s first single Lose it All, releasing on June 19th 2025 with an accompanying video, captures this moment—the absolute peak of disappointment—before hinting at a quiet return to hope. Life moves in endless circles: no matter how much you’ve lived, there will always be another fall, another chance to rise again.
“Farme Ta Yeule” the album’s 2nd single, is a middle finger raised at the endless, arrogant shouting matches poisoning our screens. It’s about those who spew toxic opinions without solid arguments, relying instead on insults or misinformation. It’s for the moments when the only thing to say is “Shut the F- up”. Arriving on July 19th, 2025.
Downtown Fiasco will celebrate the release of their new album with an official launch at Montreal’s renowned Turbo Haüs on August 23rd, 2025. Following this event, the band will embark on a Quebec-wide tour throughout September and October, delivering their distinctive blend of brass-driven intensity and raw emotional energy across the province. Looking ahead to 2026, expect to see Downtown Fiasco gracing larger stages, reaching wider audiences, and making their mark like never before.
We don’t have all the answers — but we’ve got horns, hooks, and a pit with your name on it.
