C Joynes + Mike Gangloff
***C JOYNES (UK)***
Over the last decade, C Joynes has ploughed a singular furrow through solo guitar, with a body of work incorporating English folk-tunes alongside North & West African music, and lifting proto-minimalist and improvised techniques from the European classical and avant-garde traditions.
Joynes has released 10 albums to date, including ‘Poor Boy On The Wire’ (2021), his first solo album dedicated wholly to the electric guitar; ‘The Borametz Tree’ (2019), recorded with long-term fellow trav-ellers Dead Rat Orchestra; and ‘The Wild Wild Berry’, a collaboration with singer Stephanie Hladowski (fROOTS Editors Choice Album Of The Year 2012, MOJO Top 5 Folk Albums 2012). He has recorded a number of sessions for BBC Radio 3. He has also played extensively across the UK, Europe and the USA, sharing bills with a broad range of performers including Shirley Collins, Martin Carthy, Marc Ribot, Rich-ard Dawson, Alasdair Roberts, Jack Rose, Josephine Foster, Sir Richard Bishop, Six Organs Of Admittance and 75 Dollar Bill.
Shifting away from the electric guitar of his most recent solo activities, he’s currently exploring the uses of an amplified archtop guitar, exploiting the instrument’s potential by placing intricate parlour music alongside overdriven garage blues throw-downs and the brittle ringing tones of free improvisation.

***C JOYNES + MIKE GANGLOFF***
Guitarist C Joynes and fiddler Mike Gangloff are a trans-Atlantic duo celebrating the release of their new "Tom Winter, Tom Spring" album with a Canadian tour. Their long musical histories have centered on a never-ending search for the otherness that glimmers alike in folk traditions and the avant garde.

The Black Twig Pickers
***THE BLACK TWIG PICKERS (USA)***
The Black Twig Pickers are a group defined by a forward thinking approach to a type of music most often associated with times gone by. These days most often a trio of Mike Gangloff (Pelt, Universal Light), Nathan Bowles (Nathan Bowles Trio, Setting), and Isak Howell (Howell Family Band) -- with fourth member Sally Anne Morgan still in the fold but busy with other parts of life just now -- the Twigs have racked up more than a quarter century of playing, touring and recording widely, including collaborations with Jack Rose, Charlie Parr, and Steve Gunn, among others. In years of playing for dances and farmers markets, bars, street corners, and concert halls, the Twigs established themselves as a collective of dedicated practitioners of traditional Appalachian music re-cast and shaped by their appreciation of modern improvisation, drone, and punk. Not at odds with the experimental scene or old-time circles, the Twigs thrive in the in-betweenness of those worlds, proving that the exploration of the outmost bounds of sound and the exploration of decades-old tradition and community aren’t as different as one might think.
