Tackling violence, social injustice, and intergenerational trauma head on, Argentinian journalist, novelist, and short story writer Mariana Enríquez is widely recognized as one of the most fearless voices of her generation. Part of the group of writers known as the “new Argentine narrative,” her short stories fall within the horror genre, and have been published in international magazines such as Granta, Electric Literature, Asymptote, McSweeney’s, Virginia Quarterly Review and The New Yorker. A unique opportunity to hear Enríquez —in Canada for the very first time— talk about the creation of unsettling worlds and realities. In her writing, she faces the most dreadful nightmares to bring readers into a terrifying vision, reflecting on the power of literature to ward off evil spirits and exorcise our demons.
