Abitibi soilscape : glacial geomorphology, forest vegetation, and agriculture

Number of participants: Minimum (8) & Maximum (15)
The Abitibi landscape is characterized by a large glaciolacustrine plain, composed of clay and sand, through which emerge till-covered hills. These superficial deposits influence the development of plant assemblages, as well as land management (forestry and agriculture). Through this workshop, participants will discover a variety of plant-soil associations in Abitibi and how these associations have influenced land use and development through the years.
Instructor: Benoit Lafleur and Vincent Poirier, UQAT professors
Requirements: This workshop will take place regardless of the weather, so bring a rain jacket, rain boots, and clothing appropriate for either a cold rainy or a hot sunny day!
*Lunch is not included. If you would like to have a meal provided after the workshop, you can buy a ticket for it for an additional $12.

Nombre de participants : Minimum (8) & Maximum (15)
Le paysage abitibien se caractérise par une grande plaine glaciolacustre, composée d’argile ou de sable, au travers de laquelle émerge quelques collines couvertes de till. Ces dépôts de surface influencent à la fois le développement de la végétation et la manière dont le territoire est géré (foresterie et agriculture). Au cours de de cet atelier, les participants pourront découvrir une partie de la variété des associations sol-végétation en Abitibi et comment ces associations ont influencé le développement et l’occupation du territoire.
Instructeur: Benoit Lafleur et Vincent Poirier, professeurs UQAT
Pré-requis: Cet atelier aura lieu peu importe les conditions météorologiques, alors apportez un imperméable et des bottes de pluie, ainsi que des vêtements appropriés pour une journée froide et pluvieuse ou chaude et ensoleillée !
