One is a multimedia artist and curator, born in South Korea and adopted in Belgium. The other is a writer and filmmaker, adopted from China and raised in Quebec. kimura byol lemoine and Dédé Chen have cultivated a co-mentorship, mutually enriching their artistic and personal journeys. Following b i b i m ㅂㅣㅂㅣㅁ — a pocket retrospective of kimura byol lemoine’s work — they engage in a conversation about zer respective practices, creation, intergenerational transmission, and the political and cultural issues of transnational adoption. How does one build political awareness and an artistic practice in a diasporic context? They will explore the blind spots and the new boundaries to transgress that each era brings.
