Toronto punk quartet The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores are a guaranteed booty shaking, fist pumping, machine built to make you sweat on the dance floor. Being named to North By Northeast top 60 tip-sheet, playing shows at the Edge 102.1, Afro Punk Festival, Indie Week Toronto, and Canadian Music Week, The OBGMs have shared the stage with artists such as Saul Williams, Janelle Monae and Kathryn Calder of The New Pornographers. Formé des frères Guillaume et Maxime Chiasson, le duo rock garage originaire de Québec-la-ville (de la province aussi) s’est pointé en 2011 avec deux EPs autoproduits qui lui ont permis de prendre part à Pop Montréal, au Festival d'Été de Québec, aux FrancoFolies de Montréal, à NxNE, au Sappy Fest et au FMEAT. Un parcours saillant déjà, remarqué par le label montréalais Bonsound, qui a fait paraître 27 Club, le premier album du groupe, en mars 2013. Enregistré de façon entièrement analogique à l'Hotel2Tango avec Howard Bilerman, le long-jeu renferme un souci mélodique pop garage tout en transposant l'énergie que la paire affiche en concert. Accumulant ensuite des participations à d’autres festivals d’envergure tels qu’Osheaga et Canadian Music Week, Ponctuation s'est aussi mérité le prix d'Artiste émergent francophone de l'année aux SiriusXM Indies en mars 2014 - rapport que la barrière de la langue, c’est l’affaire des autres – pour finalement clore l’année avec une tournée européenne qui l’a mené jusqu’aux TransMusicales de Rennes. Tout ça en plus de passer la seconde moitié de 2014 à autoproduire/-réaliser/-enregistrer une collection de nouvelles pièces de façon tout aussi analogique sur un Tascam 388 dans son local du quartier Saint-Roch à Québec. En résulte La réalité nous suffit, un deuxième album capturant la vivacité du premier jet tout en amorçant un changement de cap plus psychédélique.
Sandveiss
“SANDVEISS” is a four-piece rock band from Quebec City, Canada. They officially formed in 2011 and are now composed by guitarist/singer Luc Bourgeois, bassist Daniel Girard, drummer Dzemal Trtak and guitarist Shawn Rice.
In 2012, Bourgeois, Girard and Trtak along with the band’s first lead singer François Couture, released an eponymous 4-songs EP/Demo CD. In may of 2013, as they start to record what would become their first album, Couture decided to quit the band. With the band’s only guitarist Luc Bourgeois taking over vocal duty, they decide they needed a second guitar player and asked Shawn Rice to join, now completing SANDVEISS’s actual line-up.
Inspired by everything from classic rock/ heavy metal bands from the 60’s/70’s/80’s to the stoner-rock/doom scene of today, they cite BLACK SABBATH, MOUNTAIN, PENTAGRAM, THE MELVINS, KYUSS and NIRVANA among others as major influences.
