Shin Hye Koo

Shin Hye Koo is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal, Canada. As a third culture child, her works are informed by her Korean identity as well as her international upbringing. Growing up, much of her exposure to visual culture has been influenced by the Internet and online subcultures. This can be seen in her engagement with popular online subjects that she reinterprets and redefines using her various practices. Her art history background and her professional work in the online pop culture media space also influences how she combines contemporary subjects with traditional drawing techniques in digital mediums. A theme that runs through her works is transgressing the binary spaces between online/offline and physical/digital.

Shin Hye Koo est une artiste multidisciplinaire autodidacte basée à Montréal, au Canada. En tant qu'enfant ‘’third culture’’, ses œuvres sont influencées par son identité coréenne ainsi que par son éducation internationale. En grandissant, une grande partie de son exposition à la culture visuelle a été influencée par internet et les sous-cultures en ligne. Cela se voit dans son engagement avec des sujets populaires en ligne qu'elle réinterprète et redéfinit à l'aide de ses diverses pratiques. Sa formation en histoire de l'art et son travail professionnel dans l'espace médiatique de la culture pop en ligne influencent également la manière dont elle combine des sujets contemporains avec des techniques de dessin traditionnelles sur des supports numériques. Un thème qui traverse ses œuvres est la transgression des espaces binaires entre en ligne/hors ligne et physique/numérique.

구신혜 작가는 캐나다 몬트리올에서 활동하는 독학 다원예술가입니다. 제3문화권 아이로 자란 그녀의 작품들은 한국인으로서의 정체성과 국제적인 성장 배경을 담고 있습니다. 그가 자라면서 노출된 시각 문화는 주로 온라인 서브컬처의 영향을 받았습니다. 이는 그의 작업이 온라인에서 인기 있는 주제를 다양한 방식으로 재해석하고 재정의하는 모습에서 확인할 수 있습니다. 그의 미술사적 배경과 그가 온라인 대중문화 미디어 분야에서 한 전문적 작업은 디지털 매체에서 현대적 주제와 전통적인 드로잉을 결합하는 기법을 사용하게끔 영향을 주었습니다. 그의 작품들은 온라인/오프라인과 물리적/디지털 사이의 이분법적 공간을 넘나드는 주제들을 담고 있습니다.

“Hello! I am Yeonji, an illustrator and animator based in Toronto, Canada. I was born and raised in South Korea, then longing for a new environment where I can learn a broader perspective and develop my artwork, I decided to study abroad. Now, I am passionate about Illustrations, animations and children’s books. Having a curiosity about my aesthetics and belief in art, I look forward to developing my maturity as an artist and meeting many people worldwide. “

Dongyoung Chung

Dongyoung Chung is a South Korean music producer and singer-songwriter. His style blends multiple genres such as indie pop/rock, R&B, Soul, and alternative rock. Dongyoung immigrated to Canada at the age of 13, and since then, he began to spend most of his time alone, which led him to start learning and writing music. The alienation and change of environment positively affected him to have a unique vision, solidified by the sophistication and originality of his music.

Dongyoung Chung est un producteur de musique et auteur-compositeur-interprète sud-coréen. Son style mélange plusieurs genres tels que l'indie pop/rock, le R&B, la soul et le rock alternatif. Dongyoung a immigré au Canada à l'âge de 13 ans, et depuis lors, il a commencé à passer la plupart de son temps seul, ce qui l'a amené à apprendre et à écrire de la musique. L'aliénation et le changement d'environnement ont eu un effet positif sur sa vision unique, consolidée par la sophistication et l'originalité de sa musique.

정동영은 대한민국의 음악 프로듀서 이자 싱어송라이터입니다. 인디 팝/록, R&B, 소울, 얼터너티브 록과 같은 다양한 장르를 혼합하는게 그의 음악의 스타일입니다. 13살에 캐나다에 이민을 온 이후로 대부분의 시간을 혼자 보내기 시작했고, 그로 인해 음악을 배우고 만들기 시작했습니다. 변화된 환경과 그로 인해 느낀 소외감은 그가 독특한 시각을 갖게 하는데 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤고, 그 시각은 그의 정교하고 독창적인 음악에 확고하게 표현됩니다.

Myungkuk Cha

Myungkuk Cha currently studies at ISART Digital School in 2D/3D arts and animation and is an avid gamer. His apirations includes breaking into the gaming field and working for his favorite game studio such as Blizzard studio.

Sara Say

An emerging independent curator and illustrator presenting the festival ''Korea and the Youth Culture: A New Retro Art& Music Festival'', Sara Say seeks innovation in her artistic projects. She made her curatorial debut with the group exhibition “Korea: Through the Eyes of the Artist” in 2019, and continued her journey under Festival Accès Asie in 2021 by co-creating ''A Transpacific Night in Town' online listening session' and by creating ''Asian Horror & Cynicism'' youth exhibition in 2022. She continues to promote young talent from Asia by curating projects that bring refreshing new art to the Montreal scene.

Commissaire indépendante à ses débuts et illustratrice qui présente le festival ‘’Korea and the Youth Culture : A New Retro Art & Music Festival’’, Sara Say recherche l’innovation dans ses projets artistiques. Elle a aussi fait ses débuts de commissaire avec l’exposition collective Korea: Through the Eyes of the Artist en 2019, et a continué son parcours sous Festival Accès Asie en 2021 en co-créant “A Transpacific Night in Town ‘’ et en créant l’exposition ‘’Asian Horror & Cynicism’’ en 2022. 떠오르는 독립 큐레이터이자 일러스트레이터인 사라 세이가 <한국과 청년 문화: 뉴 레트로 예술 & 음악 축제>를  소개합니다. 이 축제를 기획한 사라 세이는 예술 프로젝트에서 혁신을 추구합니다. 그녀는 그룹 전시 '한국: 예술가의 눈을 통해'로  큐레이터로서 데뷔했으며, 2021년에는 <페스티벌 악쎄아시 (Festival Accès Asie)> 에서 <태평양 횡단의 밤> 온라인 청음회를 공동 기획하고 2022년에는 <동양 공포와 냉소주의> 청년 전시를 기획하며 큐레이터로서의 여정을 이어가고 있습니다. 그는 참신하고 새로운 예술을 선사하는 프로젝트들을 끊임없이 기획하여 몬트리올시에 아시아의 젊은 인재들을 지속적으로 홍보하고 있습니다.

Shelly Bahng

Shelly Bahng is a Korean writer, artist and intuitive based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal invested in telling stories about loneliness and togetherness. She also has a podcast with her soul-sharing roommate Thai Hwang called Before We End.
