Angela Solo
For over 10 years, Montreal-based vocal powerhouse, Angela Solo has criss-crossed eastern Canada and the US, playing her own brand of rock-infused, heartfelt music. Creating a sound all her own that connects with people wherever she goes, she has developed a respectable and loyal following the world over.
Not willing to sit still and just “play for fun”, she formed ska/reggae trio ‘Take The Boys’. They worked hard at combining all their loves into a sound that speaks to crowds and makes booties bounce.They produced and released their self-titled, debut album in 2008.
Bringing together the funkiest group of musicians she could find, she formed The Off-Whites, a Montreal band steeped in funk, soul and Motown. They have been gettin' down since 2012, and continue to play weekly all across the city.
In 2014, she joined the Blue Mushroom Sirkus Psyshow, a Montreal based troupe specializing in a tongue-in-cheek mix of traditional circus and sideshow acts, dance, theatre, vaudeville, song, burlesque and puppetry, all set to an equally eclectic soundtrack, including original material written specifically for the sideshow by Miss Solo herself.
After several years of cutting her teeth with countless hours of live shows, and many collaborations with local and international musicians and entertainers, she decided it was time to move into a new chapter of her life and record her solo album, which is launching in February 2016.
The Hangers
The Hangers apparaissent sur la scène émergente montréalaise en 2009 lorsque les médias encensent le
combo local en le désignant « révélation » du festival Ska de Montréal. Fort de ce succès, le groupe lance
son premier album Half The Fun devant une salle comble au Savoy du Métropolis. La jeunesse et la
fraîcheur de la bande attire l’attention d’un vétéran de la scène ska, Mitch Girio qui tombe sous le
charme de l’originalité et des rythmes entraînant du groupe et s’engage à réaliser leur deuxième album
Get Your Ticket.
The Hangers se démarquent des autres par leur façon unique d’incorporer différents styles musicaux tels
le Rock, le Funk, le Ska et le Reggae. Leur côté festif déployé sur scène est contagieux, si bien que de
plus en plus de gens désirent faire la fête avec The Hangers en concert.
