Chris Velan
Montreal traveling troubadour and world music producer, Chris Velan, has been crossing borders in music for over a decade with his brand of world-inflected pop-folk. A prolific songwriter and consummate performer, he has toured extensively throughout North America, with notable performances at The Lincoln Center, Sundance Festival, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Osheaga and the Virgin Festival.
As a globetrotting producer, he has worked with Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars for whom he produced their debut and latest albums, Living Like A Refugee and Libation. He most recently recorded and produced the soon-to-be-released debut album, Wa Di Yo, for Haitian music collective, Lakou Mizik, and Vermont songstress, Francesca Blanchard’s, debut release, Deux Visions.
"Glow", Velan’s sixth album, co-produced by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Basia Bulat), has him at the top of his game. Featuring members of Montreal band favourites, The Unicorns, Suuns, The Barr Brothers, AroarA and Dear Denizen, the album assembles a gathering of self-assured songs – with nods to afrobeat, disco rock, folk pop and vintage rocksteady - under the tent of Velan’s adroit song craftsmanship.

Sunfields
"Sunfields sound like Wilco making out with Tom Petty in the back of Neil Young's van, while listening to Sparklehorse & dreaming of The Beatles."
Acid-laced pop Sunfields are the brain child of Jason Kent. Although the quartet was born in 2009, three quarters of its members have been playing music off & on together since they were teenagers, analyzing, learning and knit picking their parents scratchy vinyl collection.
Their debut album , Palace in the Sun (2010) was once described as '...the most overlooked album of 2010.' Their second record, HABITAT (2014) has been described as "...blossoming like a field of poppies in a rainy English field."
Since their formation, Sunfields have toured England, having played NYC & Paris showcases, & continue to tour Quebec and Ontario.
Their live show is not only an extension of their records, but presents an entirely new beast, showcasing their abilities on their instruments, while feeling their way through the songs as if for the first time. Songs draw on dreamy lyrics, disarming melodies, moody instrumentation & sonic undercurrents with elements of folk, indie rock, & psychedelic undertones. Here comes the Sun...
Their new record is due out March 2017 on Exit Sign Music. The band features members (& ex-members) of Kandle & The Krooks, The Dears, Tricky Woo, Soft Canyon, & Freelove Fenner.
