Jim Doxas is recognized as one of the best drummers in Canada. A strong presence on the national and international scene, Mr. Doxas has collaborated with many great artists, including Oliver Jones, Carla Bley and Dave Douglas.  With each performance, this stellar drummer’s approach to Jazz improvisation demonstrates that percussion is an instrument every bit as melodic as those who share his stage. Mr. Doxas will be accompanied bassist Adrian Vedady, saxophonist Al McLean and trumpet player Lex French as he presents his new project, the Jim Doxas Quartet, a new album that will be released at this concert.

Originally from Quebec City,  27-year-old bassist and composer Alex Le Blanc has already played with big names in the Quebec jazz scene. These include artists like Yannick Rieu, Jim Doxas, Frank Lozano and Janis Steprans. In September 2015, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Rimouski Festi Jazz, he and his group the Saint-Roch Quartet received first prize in the showcase contest. Since then, this young musician has appeared in several festivals like the Jazz Festival in Vienna (France), the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Festi Jazz Mont-Tremblant and many others. In 2018 he started his Ensemble Alex Le Blanc, a sextet in the great tradition of hard bop, whose album Live at Bar St-Angele, was well received by critics.
