Science for Lunatics

Science for Lunatics         Biographie

"Science for Lunatics is a Montreal band that sounds like a mix of early No Doubt and funk-metal pioneers Rage Against the Machine."

-Brian Charles Clarke, The Bucket List-

BiographyMICROPANiK is a Montreal-based indie electronica rock duo. After a hundred thousand hours of sound exploration, and a lot of button tweaking by JS Vaillancourt, MICROPANiK put out its first electronica sounding album in 2012: Fall of Melancopolis. The album reached the charts of many college radio stations across Canada, and even reached !earshot’s Top 200, the national campus and community radio report, in August 2012. The band’s sound changed drastically and became more rock oriented with the arrival of JC Blain behind the drums, in 2013. The new direction then put the emphasis on a fuzzy bass, big rock drums, and dirty analog synthesizers, instead of electro-digital moods. The duo released Arbos EP in November 2015 and was again able to gain attention from independent radio stations from coast to coast and from North American media: “The result is something partly organic, partly synthetic. But it is all high energy and exciting” (Ride The Tempo). Afterward, they rapidly wrote new material and started preparing a themed album about matter, made out of recording sessions with everyday items which are not music related. The result is Materia, a third opus with post-apocalyptic vibes which will be launching in November 2017.
